SAFAR is a Moroccan born DJ, currently based in the South of France.

Early life, education and career

SAFAR was born Younes Benmchich in Marrakech, Morocco, on January 4, 1980. He spent his teenage years studying in Paris, after returning to Morocco in the 90’s he found his passion for electronic music and started DJing, soon becoming the most famous DJ in the kingdom using alias Younes B. In beginning of the 00’s he went onto touring internationally (from Ibiza to Dubai) and his music was to be found on world compilations (Pacha Ibiza Hits, Amnesia Dancefloor, La Troya Ibiza…), followed by a residency at Radio FG, Paris.

Becoming SAFAR

After turning his main focus towards other creative projects, Younes returned in 2020 as SAFAR with melodic house track Medina, released with Sudam Recordings (May 2020). SAFAR means travel, to voyage, describing the core of his inspiration to return as SAFAR. He invites to you travel and discover the world through the mix of traditional ethnic instruments mixed with the groove he is known to deliver. In September 2020, he released Thousand and Two Nights with Deep Root Tribe (Label), offering a spirituel and otherworldly experience, featuring angelic vocals from Dickla Hackmon, followed with a zestful remix by Paso Doble (DJ). The track was consistently played by Black Coffee (DJ).
